Natural Piano Technique: Integrating Body, Mind, & Music
    Thursday, March 20, 2008, 7:00pm (free admission)
At Bechstein Pianos, 207 West 58th Street, NYC

Playing the piano naturally requires optimum use of our body, mind, and senses, and coordinating all three so that we become an open channel for the music. This seminar and demonstration lesson will reveal how to

    • Achieve more emotional intensity with less physical tension
    • Recognize and reverse habits of over-emoting, stiffening, and glossing over notes
    • Balance physical activity with receptivity to sounds and sensations
    • Prevent or recover from practice-related injuries
    • Cultivate rhythmic vitality
    • Perform with more confidence, warmth, and freedom

“This approach is magical. I have better tone and a kind of clarity that is beyond anything I’d ever imagined. I never realized that I could still make this kind of transformation and progress.”
    - Tang-mei Shieh, pianist, graduate, Manhattan School of Music
